Lago Vista Animal Control operates under the Development Services Department, working alongside Code Compliance Officers, and collaborates closely with the Lago Vista Police Department. Animal Control Officers are dedicated to helping residents safely enjoy their domestic pets while also respecting the many wild animals that inhabit our area.
Under the direction of the Development Services Director, Animal Control Officers work to protect domestic animals from abuse and neglect and to protect citizens from dangerous or nuisance animals, while educating pet owners on responsible animal ownership and how to remain compliant with current ordinances.
They provide these protections by:
- Investigating complaints related to barking dogs
- Responding to animal bites
- Addressing ongoing or repeat animal-related issues
- Investigating reports of animal abuse or neglect
- Impounding and quarantining animals to address public safety and health concerns
- (Animals are housed at our Animal Services Center in the Police Department)
- Issuing citations for violations of City ordinances or state law
To promote the safety and well-being of animals and to improve relations between animal owners and the general public, Animal Control works to help the public understand and comply with applicable laws and regulations.
