POLICE OFFICER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Basic Peace Officer Certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement or Currently Enrolled in a Basic Peace Officer Certification Program.

POLICE OFFICER APPLICATION PROCESS:

  1. Complete a City of Lago Vista Application for Employment. Application available online here.
  2. Ride-a-long with one of the department's senior patrol officers.
  3. Provide a Personal History Statement Upon Request of a Background Investigator.
  4. Detailed Background Investigation.
  5. Oral Interview Board.
  6. Final Interview with the Chief of Police.
  7. Conditional Offer of Employment.
  8. Physical Examination / Drug Screen.
  9. Psychological Examination.

  • No Previous Experience Necessary.
