Note:  In accordance with HB 2439 enacted by the 2019 Texas Legislature, after September 1, 2019 the City of Lago Vista will refrain from enforcing any existing municipal ordinance prohibiting or restricting the use of any building materials or methods otherwise permitted by a model building code adopted in the Lago Vista Code of Ordinances.

Resolutions and Ordinances are used by the City Council to take formal action on a subject. However, not every action of the Council will require one.

Ordinances are more formal and authoritative than resolutions. Ordinances are usually laws enacted by the City Council to grant formal approval to certain policies or establish regulations. They are usually required to regulate people or property. They are required to pass regulations which violators may be punished.
